#24: HBO 24/7
We already knew we loved this team. But we didn’t feel like we really KNEW them until this show. HBO did such a great job giving us the inside look we would have never seen otherwise.
(The video is one of my favorite moments from the series)
(Also, the last one will be up in like an hour probably. HOCKEY IS ALMOST HERE!!)

#23: Players on Twitter
I don’t know about you, but the Penguins on twitter make me love them more than I already do. This year was especially fun, with the most active tweeters being Tangradi, Talbot, and Mike Rupp…with the MYSTERY MELON! (I’m pretty sure the one pictured is Fleury) But now that Malkin has an account…this will probably be #1 after this upcoming season.
Current Penguins on Twitter:
Eric Tangradi, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Tyler Kennedy (he never uses it), Steve Sullivan

#22: The Big Screen
During the playoffs, the big screen is put up by the arena for hundreds of fans to watch the big games together, because they can’t get to the game otherwise. I have a feeling no matter how much NBC objects, they’ll still build it. This is something I haven’t experienced in person yet but hope to in the next few years.

#21: Bill Guerin’s Retirement Ceremony
It was sad to see Bill Guerin retire, but it was really nice that he decided to retire a Penguin. I’m excited to see what Billy will do as a member of the Penguins’ staff as the player development coach!
“I went to camp in Philly and I tried it,” Guerin said. “I was OK with it being over. My heart was here, and there was no reason for me to keep hanging on. I ended with a good year. That’s how I wanted it. I feel like I’m going out on my terms.” source

#20: Big Fights
Although I already posted all of the fights against the Islanders earlier in this series, there were others in the season that were just as memorable. (Unless you don’t like fighting in hockey, then never mind this post…)
Here’s a few links to videos of fights from last season that I picked out:
Ben Lovejoy vs. Shawn Matthias (pictured)
Deryk Engelland vs. Colton Orr (watch the slow-mo!)
Sidney Crosby vs. Matt Niskanen (AWKWARD!!!)
Eric Godard vs. Shawn Thornton (he had so many i just picked a random one)
if you had a fight that isn’t listed that you thought was memorable from this past season, put it in my submit box as a video post and i’ll post it!

#19: The Children’s Hospital Visit
It happens every year around Christmas time, and it’s always so heartwarming. :)

#18: The Alumni Game
Wasn’t it cool to see all these guys together on the ice again!? Especially for those of us who might not have even been born yet or were too young to notice when they were in the NHL! And, because I was there I can tell you first hand….it was SO COOL.

#17: Matt Cooke Incites Debate
Everyone makes mistakes, and Matt Cooke made a few in 2010. After a bad hit, he was suspended for the rest of the season, including the playoffs, and decided to make some big changes. It put a lot into perspective for all hockey fans and incited a lot of debate about how maybe some things should be changed in the game that we all know and love.
Source: letsgopensRR: Why do these hits keep happening?
MC: They’ve been different. They aren’t the same. They’re different plays and… I want to change. In the game against the Rangers, I had a chance to hit (Brian) Boyle in the middle of the ice and I didn’t. I had a chance to hit (Bryan) McCabe, and he turned, so I didn’t hit him. It’s a learning process. It doesn’t just stop with being suspended. It also doesn’t just stop with words. My actions will prove it.

#16: Sidney Crosby’s Point Streak
Sidney Crosby seems to break a milestone every year. In 2010 he managed to score a point in 25 straight games, a new NHL record.
